These terms govern your use of online-json.com and its subdomains, such as classic.online-json.com (the "site"), and the tools on it. "We", "us" and "our" mean the operator of online-json.com. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. The service

online-json.com offers free online tools for working with JSON and related formats, including formatting, validation, viewing, editing, conversion, comparison and clean-up. You do not need an account. Most tools run entirely in your browser, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may add, change or remove tools and features, and we may suspend or stop the site, at any time and without notice.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the site for any lawful personal or commercial purpose. You must not:

• use the site, share links or feedback to store or distribute content that is illegal, infringes anyone's rights, or contains malware, phishing or spam;
• share other people's personal data, passwords, keys or other confidential information through share links without the right to do so;
• attempt to break, overload or bypass the security of the site, its servers or its rate limits, or interfere with other people's use of it;
• send automated requests at a volume that places an unreasonable load on the site, or scrape it in a way that does;
• present the site, or a copy or frame of it, as your own, or suggest that we endorse you or your product.

We may block access, remove share links or reject feedback that we reasonably believe breaks these terms. The Content Policy sets out in full what may be shared and how shared JSON is moderated.

3. Your content

You keep all rights to the data you put into the tools and to the output they produce. We do not claim any ownership of it.

Most of your data never reaches us. When you create a share link or send feedback, you give us permission to store, copy and display that content only as needed to provide the feature: to show a shared document to anyone with its link, and to read and act on your feedback. You are responsible for what you share and for making sure you have the right to share it. Anyone with a share link can see its content, so do not use share links for confidential information.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve the site without any obligation to you.

4. Data stored in your browser

Saved JSON, settings and your last input are kept in your own browser. We cannot see, restore or recover them. They can be lost if you clear your browser data, use a private window, switch browsers or devices, or if your browser removes stored data. Use Export in the Saved panel to keep a backup of anything important.

5. Accuracy of results

We work hard to make the tools correct and follow the relevant standards, but conversions, repairs and comparisons involve choices and can produce results you do not expect. For example, JSON Repair makes a best guess at what broken input was meant to be, and data cut off part way cannot be recovered. Always check the output before you rely on it, especially for production systems, financial data or anything important.

6. Intellectual property

The site's design, text, graphics, logo and code are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy or republish substantial parts of the site, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests a connection with us, without our permission.

The site uses open-source software, including jsoneditor, Ace, PapaParse, js-yaml, jsonrepair and jsondiffpatch. Each is used under its own licence, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.

7. Links to the site and to other websites

You are welcome to link to any page of the site, as long as the link is not misleading and does not suggest an endorsement we have not given. Please do not show the site inside a frame on another website.

The site may link to other websites and services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, policies or availability.

8. Availability

We provide the site free of charge and do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may restrict access, for example to deal with abuse or to carry out maintenance. Share links may stop working when they expire, if they break these terms, or if we close the feature or the site.

9. Disclaimer

The site and the tools are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its tools, even if we have been told such loss is possible. Because the site is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site is limited to zero, except where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you keep any rights that the law of the country where you live gives you and that cannot be waived by contract.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for any claims, losses and reasonable costs that arise because you broke these terms or the law, or infringed someone else's rights, through your use of the site, including the content of share links you create.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after an update, the new terms apply to you.

13. General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
